Microsoft developing new
remote-access-over-HTTP protocol for Vista
The Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP) creates a tunnel that travels over
Secure-HTTP, eliminating issues associated with VPN connections based on the
Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) or Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP)
that can be blocked by some Web proxies, firewalls and Network Address
Translation (NAT) routers that sit between clients and servers.

IEEE protocol Rubee seen as alternative to RFID
An new protocol called RuBee, also known as IEEE 1902.1, is being developed to
beat RFID performance in the presence of electromagnetic interference. The IEEE
working group developing RuBee holds its first meeting on February 20 in Boston,
Mass.
